Windows Firewall is a Windows application that blocks any program harmful or not from accessing your Windows computer network. This is quite helpful in preventing any type of security breach that could be harmful for your computer. Certain program also have the potential to make changes in your network settings, hence they should be blocked. Read further to learn how you can blog a program using the Windows Firewall.
Open Start Menu
On the desktop, click the Windows logo to launch the Start menu. You can also press Window key to open the Start menu.
Open Windows Firewall
In the Start menu, type Firewall in the search box which will bring up a list of programs associated with Windows Firewall including the Firewall.
Change the settings in Firewall
In the Firewall window, locate “Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall” option which must be located on the top-left side of the window. Now go to the upper-right side of the window and find Change Settings option. You will face a pop-up window, click the Yes option on this window. You will need administrator privileges to perform this action.
Locate the program you want to block
In the middle of the page, you will see a list of programs that the Windows Firewall is either blocking or allowing. Scroll down the list to find the specific program you want to block. In case, you can’t find the program you wish to block, click Add another program option and choose the program.
Click the check mark
Now click on the check mark located at the left side of the program to block the program. If you don’t see any check mark to the left side of the program, it means the program is already being blocked by the Windows Firewall.
Finally click OK on the bottom of the window to successfully complete the blocking process.
